Tour Plan

Sabaneta Starting
After we pick you up at your place we are heading south of Medellin. In this beautiful colorful and colonial city we visit different food stands just to pick the best ones to try out. Our first snack is the Chocolo Arepa. We are going to try the Chocolo arepa, which is a different type than the most common arepa, the white Arepa that you probably tried already. Chocolo Arepa is sweeter and has a different taste compared to the regular one, also more difficult to find in supermarkets. Some of our guests find the Chocolo Arepa similar to the Pancake, let's see what you think when you try it. Our second snack is a buñuelo: A fried dough ball. This snack is popular in many other countries but all of them have their own version of it. Our Buñuelo is made with cheese and the surface is usually crunchy, very common throughout the year but specially on christmas time. The place where we are going to try our Buñuelo is very traditional and makes huge and the most delicious ones.

What kind of food tour in Medellin would be this one if you don't get to try what we drink at parties and celebrations? Our next stop will be to try a sip of Aguardiente our traditional alcohol made from anise seeds. Since colonial times the Aguardiente has been part of our tradition and celebrations. Medellin's own “Aguardiente Antioqueño” has won several awards thanks to its quality and taste, that’s why we feel confident that you are going to like it. To make this drinking experience even more exciting you will try it in a place full of customary taverns in Medellin, where the Aguardiente has been traditionally drunk: Fondas Paisas. To help wash down the Aguardiente we will have our next snack: Empanada. Empanadas are a mold of pastry filled with potatoes or rice and ground meat, usually fried. We normally eat them with “salsa rosada” (pink sauce, a combination between mayonnaise and ketchup) or “ají”, a local spicy sauce. We´ll provide 4 different sauces to try them out.

After the empanada we are going to try a very particular piece of meat, it is a delicious and addictive spicy sausage that we call "Butifarra". However, people think that is an acquired taste, let's see what you think when you try it!! Our final destination is one of the most magical places in this city. It's a coffee farm owned by the most gracious and kindest farmers where we are going to try authentic and mind-blowing home made food.

At this farm we won’t only going to try these delicious treats but we will also get to try a local specialty: Colombian beer mixed with a soda drink called “Colombiana”, what’s more local than that? Locals call it Refajo and it's totally worth the shot as it is refreshing and not as bitter as a regular beer. But what kind of food tour this would be without trying a traditional dessert? Well, we are giving you a very special one, it´s all grown in the farm and it consists in: ripe plantain, guava and melting cheese, this would be the perfect way to stop eating for this amazing night. We are having a unique product only found at this farm, the COFFEE TEA. The coffee Tea is a product we are developing, it has an amazing taste different than coffee, take the tour and find out the fruity notes. The vibe of this place is amazing, the view over the city from there make it the perfect final stop of this memorable foodie experience.
